A red Triumph Spitfire made news locally in the East Midlands (UK) today
and was shown on TV. Apparently the owner who lives in Kegworth, abut 5
miles from where I live, had left his red Spitfire parked alongside his
house whilst he went to work. Whilst he was away, some contractors
representing the Severn Trent water company had to dig a trench in the
road, and apparently moved his car by 'bouncing' it to one side. This
was spotted by a neighbour, and the owner complained to the contract
company. He said that the car has been damaged on a wheel arch, and the
bonnet had scratches on it. The representative of the company would
not say anything in front of the TV cameras, but will probably pay for
the damages if there is proof. The guy had owned the car for 7 years
(I think).
