Listers,
For the last few months I've been toying with the installation of a cruise
control system in my 64 Spitfire. Well, tonight I'm happy to announce that
the system is in and working.
I was able to do the installation in such a way that there were no
modifications made to the car itself. I used existing bolt holes and
mounting points through out. All wiring is plug in with no cutting and
splicing. The switch assembly for the cruise control module is mounted on
the steering column just as in the newer vehicles.
If any one is interested I'll be writing up the procedure on how to install it,
including pictures and part numbers and where to get them. It might take
me a while to get this information all together with decent pictures but I'll
eventually get it done.
I took the car out for a test drive tonight and it worked extremely well, nice
and smooth. Once I get the OD installed in the car it should be a very nice
highway cruiser!
Hopefully in the next few days I can at least get some pictures posted to my
web page.
