TR-6's were fitted by dealers in the US with aluminum trim rings. They were
not painted. The dull finish was preferred because it enhanced the depth of
the wheel, something a polished or stainless steel trim ring will not do
because of the reflections it captures. Unfortunately, the company that
made those aluminum rings no longer does. At present only stainless steel
is available. You can have a set of stainless steel "brushed" to take off
the shine, but it is an operation which needs to be done carefully to avoid
brush lines and unevenness. But the trim rings were definitely not painted.
They were not fitted to the early wheels which had the studs for mounting
the Rostyle hub cap.
