I forward your message to my wife, my boss, and two of my co-workers with
the comment:
"I have made reservations to Newark this afternoon. By luck I was able to
get the name and number of the owner. And I have first crack at them if I
can get there tonight. I'll call on the way to airport. I'm on my way home
now. - Oh it is 9 cars altogether. Only one is brand new, the rest are
under 5,000 miles each." - They all know of my "hobby".
I then waited 15 minutes and called each of them from the cell phone while I
was driving back to work from lunch. My wife wanted to know where we were
going to put them, how much, etc. My boss asked about a meeting tomorrow
morning and when did I think I would be back. I said I have a flight back
at 6:45am and should be back by the meeting (at 11). He then started
reminiscing about his Austin Healey. I begged off and called our Production
Coordinator (Ben) who has an Alpine. He asked if I needed any help, that
he could meet me at the airport. I said no. Joyce, my box office manager
was the only one who said "this is a joke isn't it". I told her no. - I was
pulling into the credit union to get a cashiers check at that moment. I'd
stop by on my way out."
When I got to the office, I had three emails from other people here at USF
who evidently have an affinity to lbc's - wanting to know what kind and if
they would be for sale. I saw Joyce, showed her the cashier's check for
$5,400 (it was a dummy that a friend at the CU fixed for me) gave her the
flight info and left - running...
Meanwhile, my wife called and said she thought it would be ok to add a
garage at the back, but I would have to sell at least 5 of them. I said "no
problem... I have already had inquiries." 10 minutes later the mechanic
I go to called and said that Ben called. Wanted the details. I gave him
sketchy details but said I had to go didn't want to miss the plane.
I just got back to the office and let them all in on the joke. Thank you,
Thank you, thank you...I'll probably be hearing about it for months... I
was going to play hooky all afternoon and get back around 5 and say I missed
the flight. The owner wouldn't hold them.... But figured I couldn't keep
a straight face...

Scions,
A number of unused Triumph and MG sportscars have
been stumbled upon in a condemned warehouse on Grand
Avenue in Leonia, NJ. Apparently, while survey work
was being performed for a new commerical business
park, the contents of the warehouse were discovered.
The building had been unused for decades.
The current owners of the warehouse had believed it
to be empty and have no interest in the contents.
Because the owners do not have the proper documents
to sell the cars, they will likely be disposed of as
scrap metal.
