A cork is a fine float - Piper Cubs have used 'em for many decades. With
the currfent gasahol blends, you need to treat the cork with FRESH orange
shellac - several coats from a new (check the date) can. DO NOT use epoxy -
gas will get through it and separate it from the float, and then you'll have
a tank full of exploded epoxy flakes. Been there, done that, etc... I
haven't heard of any other modern miracle coatings working any better, and
fresh shellac works great. Mine's been floating for years with no attention
at all.
