Listers, this may be of interest to those who have Len Renkenberger's Six
Tech manual...
The Engine section has an article called "Rocker Shaft Screw" (page E8). On
page E9, Len states "...this screw has a countersunk phillips head -- the
worst possible fastening devise (sic) to tighten". Unfortunately, in this
case Len is wrong. The screw is actually a pozidrive head which a pozi #3
bit fits perfectly. Do _not_ use a phillips screwdriver on this screw if you
plan to apply any significant torque -- you will distort the screw head in
the process. Use the pozi tip -- they are actually capable of delivering
significant torque (certainly adequate to properly tighten this particular
screw) without distorting the screw head. A phillips screw tightened that
tight would probably have its head deformed by the screwdriver -- they are
not as good at distributing the force as the pozi ones, if the proper screw
driver tip is used that is.
Hope this is of use to someone. (The pozi screws are all over the TR6 --
they look similar to phillips but not really made to be loosened/tightened
with a phillips screw driver. There was a thread about pozi screws recently
so I won't rehash more of that info here.)
