Shawn,
Ok, Ill grant you that 12 Hp is probably a bit hi, but even 5 or ten
gained from these low output motors is a good improvment for realitivly low
investment. Its not only the weight of the fan but the drag of the blades
spinning and moving air that sucks HP.
The alternator question is something I only passed on. It may be a
"load of crap" as you put it, but my friend has a reputation for building
fast, reliable, race cars. His cars win consistantly in many catagories and
classes in SCCA events as well as in modified racing. He is currently involved
with a Goodies dash car project. I may have misunderstood him to say that an
alternators can cause some amount of drag. If they do not then why do race
cars often have them switched and why are some mounted to run off the drive
shafts instead of a pully on the front of the motor? Is there nothing to gain
from of these options? This is not a pissing match.I am genuinly interested in
the answer so please respond in that frame of mind. Real dialogue is the only
kind of value.
Thanks in advance.
