I discovered an easy way of doing something today, and I want to pass it
along. It's so obvious that I'm sure that it's got to be an old trick, but
I've never seen it on the list.

I just finished rebuilding my SU carbs, using the kit from Moss. Everything
worked fine and I only had one problem. How do you get the hard fiber
gasket onto the threads of the brass damper screws? I tried screwing it on
and forcing it on. Nothing worked and I didn't want to crack the gasket.
Finally, I soaked it overnight in water. It expanded to oversize, and
dropped right on. When it dried, it shrunk back to it's original size.
Problem solved.

I have read about soaking the cork washers in oil to soften them, but never
have seen this.
