Hi Jack,
Have you checked the grounding through the actual column, as this is
the electrical return route? There is a crude universal joint towards
the bottom of the steering column (at least there is on the Herald /
Spitfire, same steering column). Try fixing a ground wire across this
UJ. The intermittent grounding is caused by muck building up and
insulating the joint. This has worked for me on on many different
Heralds and Spitfires, let me know how you get on,
