Railroad horns - excellent, truck horns, pretty good too.

Some years ago, a chum of mine who was a bit of a recluse and dabbled
in microchip technology and hi-fi fitted a novel type of doorbell to
his house. Loudspeaker just inside front door emiited the sound of a
woman screaming followed by several bursts of machine gun fire.
Certainly worked -everyone ran like hell, which was just what he
wanted.
