A couple of days ago I read the from the VTR page about the temperature
compensator valve on Stromberg carbs. Some of the symptoms of a stuck
valve seemed to fit both my TR6 and my Spitfire. I am in the process
of cleaning and adjusting the ones on the TR6 as per instructions, but
I was surprised to find that my CD-150 on the Spit (with autochoke)
doesn't seem to have a compensator at all. I kind of figured that
maybe all the temperature responsive stuff in the autochoke housing had
replaced the traditional compensator valve, but I found a schematic of
an autochoke Stromberg WITH the compensator on it. Does anybody know
what gives here? Do the later CD-150s (mine is 1980) have a compensator
somewhere else that looks different?
