Hi,

Re: trailing arms. They are not painted. Period. You could refinish with
the high-temp silver color that a lot of us use on the intake manifold for
a uniform finish, but that's a judgement call. The trailing arms take quite
a beating and are always exposed to the elements... if it were up to me,
I'd bead blast 'em and install the bushings and reinstall everything. If
you want to make more work for yourself, you could put on some clear laquer
or poly-urethane, but I wouldn't bother.

As for removing the bump stop rubbers, an application of heat will make the
job really easy. I've done this a number of times and if you are patient,
those babies will come right out. Just use propane and a little time and a
pair of "channel lock" pliers to get a good grip.

If you want the bump stop rubbers to come out easy next time, put a little
anti-sieze on the new ones when you install them.

Regards,
rml
