I have a TR4A with a recently installed cut-out switch by a (D)PO and his=

DPM
(mechanic). It seems that he took off the original strap in order to
install the
cut out switch. Why, I don't know. The cut-out is in the driver's
footwell in easy reach
of a hand. The ground lead from the battery goes to the switch, then fro=
m
there to
somewhere, I think the firewall. There is a replacement very light gauge=

ground strap
going from a bolt just to the right of the battery down to the back right=

side of the engine
somewhere. To dark under there to tell for sure where it attaches to the=

engine.

In the box of parts supplied by the (D)PO is a heavy gauge ground strap
measuring
less than 12 inches. This replacement one must be 2 feet long AND is ver=
y
light.

As I tried to start the car this AM to test my newly balanced driveshaft,=
 I
had to crang a long time.
I noticed a wisp of smoke coming from under the hood. I popped the hood
and found
that narrow ground strap to hot to hold. The smoke came from the slight
melting of the
plastic battery box it touched as it went down below to the engine. Ouch=
. =

I'd like to try to reinstall the original ground strap. Where does it co=
me
from and go to?
I will then figure out why it was switched....
