Jack, this apparently is rather typical of the breed, and seems to be a harmonic
viabration that starts in the gas line as it comes around the front of the
engine. Thus you should check the mounting in this location first, and make
sure the line does not touch anything other than mounting rubbers, etc. Also,
check the rubber grommets where the accelerator linkage attaches to the
firewall. If these grommets are missing, the linkage could be riding against
metal. Mine were missing, so I went to VB to pick up replacements, but could
never make them fit in the holes in the firewall. Ended up sliding a portion of
a hard rubber high pressure hose from a standard garden sprayer over the bar,
and locating it, along with grease, in the holes. Pretty much cured the 3000
RPM viabration.
