Scions,

I recall hearing about concerns over heat treating and shot blasting Triumph
engine components. I am contemplating having my rods and crank "baked" then
shot blasted and magnafluxed. This is going to be an sometimes autocross
engine, so I want to make sure everything is strong.

The baking process is primarily for cleaning, but is done at 500°F, with a
slow cool down.

The shot blasting is a true shot blast, not a bead blast. It is intended to
harden the surface, smear over the small nicks and machine marks and reduce
the tendency for cracking.

Does anyone have any good basis for not heat treating and shot blasting
Triumph engine components, or am I confused about something I heard or read?

Thanks,

Jack
