The Haynes manual says to make marks on the flanges before you remove the
driveshaft so that you can reconnect it exactly the way it was removed. The
implication is that the balance might otherwise be affected.

Bentley doesn't mention this step and ignores the whole question about matching
the driveshaft back to the same bolt holes.

My question is does it make any difference? And if it does, what are you
supposed to do when putting in an overdrive from another car that obviously
won't have those marks?

Two other questions.

1) Does anyone have a source for 5/16 UNF heli-coils (DPO stripped a pan gasket
bolt). I can find coarse (18) heli-coils everywhere but not the UNF (24). Or
is there another way to fix it?

2) Does anyone have a source for closed cell rubber weathering stripping that I
can check out? I've looked at Pep Boys et.al. but can't find the stuff I
need...e.g. L-shaped 1 inch by 1/2 inch.

Thanks
