Ballistol is a non acid gun oil for cleaning guns from shooting residue and for
rust prevention and it will not turn into resin. Itīs thin fluid and is used by
the German army for decades and also by hunters.

Itīs very good stuff for long time storage of any mechanical parts but I
havenīt
tried it on vinyl.

The writing on my ballistol bottle says itīs also good for:

Maintenance of high precision gear, gear in food industry, sheet metal, chrome,
leather, wood, horses (tail, mane, hoof) and dogs (paw and wound care).

I wouldnīt use it on painted survaces on cars because Iīm not sure if I can get
it off completly, which would be important for a respray. On not painted
surfaces you can wipe it off with degreaser very easy.
