Hi Michael,
I've refinished seats on a Herald, where the seats I had were Tan, but
I wanted to match them to the rest of the interior which was black. I
used Vinylkote, the results were excellent and long lasting, except for
the piping. Being made of a plastic other than vinyl, the finish tended
to act more like a paint, and was quite prone to rubbing away. On the
vinyl surfaces, the Vinylkote appeared to bond to the surface, ie., it
looked like it had always been that colour. There was no dulling of the
grain pattern.
Your seats may have traditional cord piping, where the piping is made
of a long strip of vinyl wrapped around a cord, rather than the extruded
plastic fitted on later cars. If this is the case, you won't suffer from
the non-adhesion which I did,
        Regards,
                Bill.
