Limited slips mostly use clutch packs to pre- load the spider gears in
the diff. That way the axles prefer to turn at the same speed. It is
possible for either axle to turn slower than the ring gear. Lockers
are positively locked when under power. They will not let either axle
turn slower than the ring gear. They will unlock however when coasting
around a corner. There is a ratchet mech. that allows the outside axle
to run faster than the ring gear. A Spool links the axles directly
together and will cause the hop mentioned in the earlier post.
