Chris/Jack
If Jack is using a Triumph 2000 gearbox with overdrive, like I am , then
he WILL need a right angled adapter. I use the one that was on the T 2000
gearbox when I got it.

If you're really asking about TR2 through TR4, as your Subject line
indicates, then you don't want a right-angle adapter. Those models don't
use them. If I remember correctly, the overdrive TR4A was the first to
use one.
Be careful when ordering speedometer cables for overdrive-equipped TR2-4.
The cable for overdrive cars is much longer than the one for non-overdrive
cars. Not all catalogs differentiate between the two, and also incorrectly
list the shorter overdrive TR4A cable as correct for the overdrive TR4.
