MIG welding seems to be popular now for the home hobbyist.
Santa brought me one last Christmas and, although I'm just beginning to get
the hang of it now, it seems pretty straight forward once you get to know your
particular welder.
The instructions say that you can weld up to 3/16" steel with the home 40 amp
units, so I guess that will cover anything you have to weld on the frame.
MIG welders start around $200 while TIG welders start at $800.
Unless you're doing exotic materials and want super control, I'd get a MIG.
