While doing the rebuild, I'd recommend replacing all four syncro rings to
make the box ultra smooth...... If you can avaoid it, then great.
Otherwise, it's a great job to do, and it is really rewarding when driving
the car!

As I listened more to the transmission yesterday, I became more
concerned. There is a noise that it makes when out of gear, but with
my foot off the clutch. It does not seem to be a throwout bearing
as it does not go away until the clutch is fully disengaged. When driving
there is a noise from the trans as well. I bet it has lived past its
useful
life and soon will need a rebuild.

Anyway, for better or worse, that probably will not be an issue.
I offered 6800 for the car, which I thought was a reasonable
offer for a car restored with unknown history (no info on the resto
itself),
possibly raced, TR3A engine, some rust bubbles in the
paint, some rust on the frame, and
fairly high mileage (168k?), nice but totally non-standard
interior, nice but totally non-standard wheels.

He said "no". Made no counter offer. He is looking
to get his 8500 back out of the car. I was afraid that I
might not get my 6800 out of the car!
