Since I will be painting my 1500 also, I used the razor blade inserted paint scraper from the hardware store. I used the 3" blade/scraper and skimmed the stripes, the process was rather quick and took several inches off at a time. Be careful of gouges. But with the right amount of pressure and patience, the methond worked well for me.
