Frank,

Prepare for shipwrights....

Unless the hose was cut by a sharp piece of metal while doing other work....
if one front hose it bad it's likely that the other side is also ready to
let go.

And if the fronts are shot..... you gotta figure the rears are bad too....
:(

Once you've determined what your life is worth and how many hoses you'll
replace find a good manual (or even Haynes... it's ok for brake work). The
basic rule of brake work is that if you ever have to force a fitting while
removing/replacing, get ready to spend $$$.

Once you've replaced the hose(s) bleed the system, starting at the right
rear. If nothing else, get some small vinyl tubing (3/16" or 1/4" id for
the rear?) to place over the bleed nipples to watch for bubbles in the
fluid. Figure that you'll need 5 or 6 full pumps at the rears just to get
new fluid back there. Then go to the left rear, the right front and finally
the left front. If when you're done the brake pedal is spongy then you
didn't get all the air out.

I usually figure on using most of a quart to bleed the brakes on the
Spitfire.

I know I've oversimplified the process. If you have ??? just reply back.
