This subject is something that gets tossed about periodically, so I'd
better draw up a FAQ article to go with the "stuck MC piston" section.

If the TR6 is the same as my TR4, you will need a 7/16" flare nut wrench
for the male fittings and a 9/16"(?) flare nut wrench for the female ones
(the one connected to the flex line).

First thing to do is to soak the fittings with your favorite penetrating
oil. Then, tap them lightly for about a minute to amuse yourself. Use
something metallic, the point here is to vibrate the fitting so that the
oil will penetrate.

Then, go get your flare nut wrench and put it away. The fittings will not
budge for a few days yet.

Next day, use the oil again. Swear at the fitting if you wish. If you
attempt to undo it, it may be still very stuck. If the wrench starts to
move but the fitting doesn't, STOP RIGHT AWAY. Put more oil on it, and
find something else to do that day.

Clearly, this is not a task for the impatient!

My clutch lines took a week of soaking, and in the end I broke the line
off. I then used a 6pt socket in a 1/4" drive ratchet (low torque) and
managed to free it.

If you own vise-grips, lock them in a cupboard and don't touch them.
They are for very last-resort only.

good luck,
-Malcolm
