Ken, I can't help with the clutch.
Most likely the threaded hole is for a plug to the oil galley in the
head. This was plugged when new. TRF (and probably others) sell a
lubrication kit that runs a line from the oil pressure line fitting (in
the block) to a banjo bolt that screws into this hole. Seems to be mixed
opinion whether the exterior oil kit helps, hurts, or is redundant.
