The early 1969 cars had valances painted in body color, as well as
painted windscreen frames. You can also tell an early car by the fact
that there was fender welting (like the MGB has on the front fenders) on
the rear fenders, that runs from the back of the cockpit to the trunk
area.
I hate to be a pain too! But up to 1970, I don't remember any TR6
regardless of its destination market having a body colour painted rear end.
Matt or satin black is the colour which sticks in my mind.
