I replaced the foam (which had rotted), but did not replace the covers. My covers were not torn and I feel it kept some of the car's originality. I may eventually replace the covers. One point of advice, place the covers (old or new) in the sun to let them heat up and it will make it easier to stretch them over the new cushions. I did not and my fingers were sore for a week!
