Ed,
I'm currently looking at a new switch from Rimmer Bros. for my '80
Spit. The loose end of the black wire (<not copper, rather a braided
nickel>) also attaches to the bottom end of the wiper stalk where the
Green/Black wire is currently attached. As you noted, the other end of
the Black wire is currently attached to the Green wire. I believe that
these
wires activate the washer fluid pump when the other end of the stalk is
pushed in.
