    Are we forgetting the P-47 Thunderbolt?   I seem to recall  that the author 
of the book "I flew for the Fuhrer"  was more afraid of the Thunderbolt.  He 
said because It was the only Fighter that could follow him up a corkscrew in 
his Focke Wolf 190.
