I think I may have sinned.
I have spent the past week in Pittsburgh, PA (hold on now, it gets worse).
Today, I left Pittsburgh, and drove to my home in Pottstown, PA . I could
have swung by Armagh, and checked out the Party, but I didn't. I did call TRF
this morning, hoping to get a discount on some parts. At 10:30am, I was told
there were around 500 people already there, and the only way I could get a
discount on parts was to show up, pay $20 for a one day grounds pass, and buy
my parts on site. Since I didn't need much in the way of parts, the discount
would not have covered the price of admission.
That wasn't the deciding factor though. I was towing my boat with my Buick
station wagon, (the Three Rivers Regatta was in Pittsburgh last weekend) and
it just seemed like too much trouble. Had I been towing one of my cars, I
probably would have felt differently. I figured life is long, there is always
next year, and I really wanted to get back home to make sure the TVR was ready
for an autocross on Sunday.
I've been thinking about all the people who travel long distances for these
types of events, how relatively easy it would have been for me to be there,
and how many people would be sure to take advantage of such an opportunity.
So, I feel a little bit ashamed, and wanted to tell those of you who didn't
make trip that your excuse is most likely way better than mine!
