Hi Carl,

Yes, that's great stuff, and I just happen to have a spray can of it that
I've had for a while.  I thought of that too, and will use it since the
roof tar is probably not a good idea.  Incidentally, my dilemma about what
gauge sheet metal to use was easily solved today.  I went to the sheet
metal shop and the largest gauge of galvanized they had was 16.  So that's
it.  It's plenty strong enough, because the weak area is actually pretty
small -- about a foot in diameter.  There'll be plenty of support.
