The problem seems mechanical. It could be a problem with the motor not
getting enough charge, though.  I checked to make sure the mountings
under the dash were secure, they were (or seemed to be). I should check
the rotary-type cable for corrosion/proper lubrication.

Where might be able to obtain this VTR article...I should check the
site, first huh?
