Listers,
Just finished off my first day back at work (yuck) since leaving last
Thursday a.m. for the Moss Motors Festival in Solvang/Buelton, CA. HOT, HOT,
HOT...(Not the song you yutz)...This had to be the hottest ever for this event.
Another outstanding presentation by the Moss people, including the
customary events, Wine rally, TSD Rally, Autocross/Slalom, Darts and Funkahna
under the lights, Creeper races and Pinewood Derby for the kids (as if the hay
bales weren't enough for them).
Only problem, as I could see it, was since it was all free, you knew it
would be crowded. Now I could go for the 500 some British cars that were there
any time. The only thing was, since Moss sells Miata parts, around 200 of them
also showed up. As far as I could tell...they were IDENTICAL. (Okay, so I'm
not a big aficionado of the marque...I'm sure there were SOME differences) By
the end of the weekend, I found my attention actually drawn to go over and look
at this Bright Yellow Bumble Bee schemed one.
Our hero Barry Schwartz, despite having to swap out clutch plates in
the driveway of the stables, was reunited with the First place popular choice
award in the Spitfire class. It always gets a First place vote from me, even
over my own.
Glad to be back in the relative cool of the SF Bay...hey, low 90's are
a breeze after that.
