Check the body mount points; some of them may be loose.  On my TR4 I had
to replace both (on the body)- they'd rusted so bad that I didn't have
anything left to make a pattern from.  I also noticed that with the rear
one fixed (and done up) and the front one gone, the door does NOT shut
right.  So if it's lifting or doing something during a turn, I wouldn't be
surprised if the door can move out of alignment enough to disengage the
latch.

Hate to be the harbinger of rust repair... but I think it would be more
prudent to have the body stuck-tight to the frame... because if they
become 2 seperate entities during a crash, then you and passenger stand a
good chance of being squished... :-(
