I recently purchased a 76 Spitfire as a project car and hope to have it on
the road soon. The car had been sitting for a few years and the tires had
dry rotted badly. The previous tires were 155 80 SR 13 and were on the
factory rims. My question is how much wider a tire can I mount on this rim
and I can go to a lower aspect ratio without sacrificing ride height too
much but I'm worried that the tires might scrub in the turns. I'd like to
go to a 175 70 13 tire which would only lower the car a negligible amount
but would give more traction. Does anyone have any experience with this?
