Yes I have a OEM negative cable
Just didn't know how to install it
Thanks for the instructions

My valve cover has the outlet in the middle
Pictures I have seen have the outlet FWD of center
My hoses seem to be configured for FWD valve cover
Like the valve cover is '69 early/hoses later design
This hose is disconnected at the valve cover due
to it not reaching the outlet (Not my doing!)
I did not think this disconnected could cause poor running
If this is a high vacuum deal (Air tight system) where does the air enter
the block?
Could it suck the gaskets in or collapse the gas tank?

Sounds like the engine is running lean, the early
years are bad about that for some reason.

Have you understood the hoses that go from the valve cover
to lower carb and fuel cannister? this is high vacuum AFTER
the mixture of the fuel/air is done. Any leak in this circuit
will cause the symptoms you see. Really lean idle and poor
running at lower RPM's.

Gaskets still under the valve cover bolts?
Gasket on dip stick?
gasktet on fuel filler?

Is this whole system air tight per OEM design?

The negative cable should have a battery connection, connect
to the block via a trans bolt and connect to the firewall via the
little bolt under the cross trottle shaft.

Do you have an OEM negative cable, if not, buy one.

Roger
(valves don't have anything to do with your symptoms best I can see)
