Hi,

You posted a while back to the list about mods for E Prod TR6... sorry for
the delay.

You should get your hands on the TR6 Comp. Prep manual available from
several sources. It's only 5 or 10 bucks... cheap at twice the price.

150 - 160 HP is easy with a TR6. Just put in S2 cam and raise the
compression a bit. 10:1 and the S2 will put you right in the ballpark.

Once you start gettting much above 160 HP, you should look into the Carillo
rods and the forged pistons. It is relatively easy to build these motors to
over 200 HP. But it' tough to get them up there and make 'em reliable.

There's Triumph 2000/2500 site that has lots of cam profile info - you
should look there too.

Oh, and balance things that move around. It'll free up some more HP.

After that, port match the heads/manifolds and put on header and flow the
carbs. E Prod specifies Weber DCOE 40's, so get ready to spend some bucks
there. To get stuff to flow through the head, you should probably get a
three angls valve job and the comp prep book has insights into ome other
mod to get the hed to flow better. If you have someone do this work - be
prepared to pay $$$

Roller rockers help (and tubular pushrods) and you can get ratios up to
1.65:1, but pay attention to the geometry and make sure nothing binds in
the valve train.

That's about all. Oh, put in an electronic ignition. Your choice, but it
looks like Electromotive and MSD are the leading contenders there.

With all the above, you should easily get to 160 - 170 HP. After that,
there's the S2 cam and higher compression, but don't go above 10:1 without
the forged pistons or you'll see a meltdown in there.

If you have questions, send 'em my way.

regards,
rml
