I believe you're going to have to jack it up far enough for the rear mount part
of that casting to clear the tunnel. If so, insure the fan hub extension
clears the steering linkage and the fan does not go into the radiator. Oh, and
the belhousing might push into the accelerator cross-shaft and firewall also.

Never tried it. Your theory sounds good as long as the rear of the trannie can
be raised enough to lift it clear of the tunnel.

Yup, I seem to remember that there is a bearing in there. I also seem to
remember a circlip, and I also remember applying force of a significant nature.

Besides oil there is the speedometer drive to worry about. Just to be safe I'd
pull that before removing the extension.
