Ed,
Thanks for your input. I have a few more questions for you:
1. Is it inadvisable to drive my car with a lost or chipped countershaft
gear tooth missing. I have no trouble starting out in 2nd, thus avoiding
clicking. My thought is to leave it till winter.
2. I looked in Moss and Vicky Brit and they have countershaft gears for
sale. The problem is, how do you know which one to order. The 1st
countershaft gear is $300 while the 2nd and third are@ $50. Does the 1st
countershaft gear connect to the reverse gear? (Does the hip bone connect to
the thigh bone?) You can tell that I am clueless about this problem. I'm
trying to figure out whether or not it is worth it to order parts and have
someone local rebuild it or order a rebuild from TRF. I'm a little bit wary
of buying a used, nonrebuild for fear of getting a lemon.
Thanks Again,
Bob Van
