Just because you don't reply to the notice on your 86 Jeep Cherokee to
have the interlock installed, won't protect you from "Big Brother". I
took my '89 Jeep Cherokee in for some service, and when I went to put it
in drive, it would no longer shift. The dealer had installed the
interlock switch. I asked the mechanic about this and he said they are
required to install it, when they come in for service. He told me to
just unplug the switch, which I did.
