Whew. I got the bolts out. Chalk another up for the oxy-acetylene. In
attempting to get a nut welded to the top of a (rounded-off) bolt, I
managed to get it hot enough to free it. So now I have to fix the floor.

Luckily I bought new bolts... stainless ones, which will also get a
generous gob of anti-sieze, and new washers. I hope the body shims aren't
made of something meltable...

Anyway, while I was sworking on my back, fiddling with the welded nuts, I
noticed a hole in (what remains of...) my rocker panel. It appears to be
just rearward of the point where the rear fender overlaps the rocker. Is
this hole supposed to be there (1/2" dia.)? Is something supposed to go
in it, or is it to let the water out of the rocker? (something it
apparently did not do) Is it a marmot access hatch?

And as for my rockers...
I know that the front and rear portions are stepped inward to allow the
fenders to overlap. I would like to know how much step (flange) is put
into the metal. I can deduce the top flange, but not the bottom (or the
inside, if any). Can anyone help?

If need be I can supply a web-pic or something to explain.

thanks,
-Malcolm
