Justin,
it sounds like the fasteners for the hardtop to the B-post on
a Spitfire MkIV/1500 when a soft top hood and frame is also
fitted to the vehicle. Part no 624873 LH and 624874 RH. It's
the length You describe that make me think it is the one for
the MkIV/1500 with soft top fitted, since the ones on the cars
without a soft top where much shorter, say 1.5 - 2 inches only.
I've attached a scanned .gif from the parts catalogue showing
them, both the long and the short versions. I hope it is of
help to You.
