Amoco white premium gas came out shortly after WWI. Post war the American Oil Company found themselves with a large stock of Benzine. They decided to use it to raise the Octane rating of their product vice an additive such as lead. Populaity keep it in the market place. Benifits, presently available from all gasolinein the USA, were highly advertised. Benzine will also protect valve seats, it is no longer allowed by the EPA. Cheers, Don J. Howard |
