Note also that the PI system should be set up based on inlet vacuum. You 
cannot get a proper calibration just by setting the end points. 
Furthermore, you'll normally shouldn't disturb the datum track - 
adjusting the springs in the vacuum chamber will give better control.

The adjustment is not a very difficult task, and an inexpensive vacuum
meter (avoid the very, very cheap ones, I'd say) as used for measuring
inlet vacuum will usually do. I checked mine against a calibrated, digital
pressure gauge, and was surprised how closely it tracked. YMMV.

This will set the fuel supply at WOT. The gap should be 1.44mm (57 thou). 
Your setting is not far off the mark, and would definitely not effect the 
idle at all.

Yes. Just don't loose the drive dog, and don't rotate either assembly.

A lean mixture would over time kill plugs, as well as your entire engine.
