I agree 150%. I have almost never met a knowledgable car
salesman. Though, some will acknowledge their lack of information,
and try to dig it up. It seems to me that any salesman should know
much more about their products than me. If I do a little research by
reading a few car mags and then know more than the salesman, I
get upset. I think any salesman should know EVERYTHING about
the models that they sell. Like all the options and the costs of them.
Come on, they only have a couple of different models to memorize.
It seems that being in auto sales breeds contempt for their products.
With that attitude, why don't they go into a more enjoyable line of
business? They appear as they could not care less about what
they are selling. In addition, most of the time they are totally
uninterested in making a sale. Once I wanted to lease a car for work.
I wanted to know the sales price and the residual value. It was as
if I was asking to be told some intimate personal detail. When the
salesboy (not man) was not forthcoming, I then told him that I would
leave. He looked at me blankly. Half way out I turned around and
asked him if he really did not want to make a sale. He continued
the blank look, and I left. I went to a dealer a couple of miles away
and found the one good, smart salesman I have ever met and I
got a much better deal and was in and out in about 1/2 hour. No
pulling teeth here!
