Listers,
Last weekend, at the South Eastern Street Rod Association Nationals here in
Knoxville, I stopped by one of the major brake vender's booth to discuss
possible brake upgrades to my TR6/302. The vender told me I was the second
person to ask about TR6 brake upgrades that day.
My question is this: Is that other person asking about brakes on this list?
If so, please contact me and let's talk!
To justify my spamming the list, I will post my brake upgrade information to
the list when it is complete. I have to upgrade the front brakes to match the
11" rear brakes I have installed in place of the 9" stock brakes. Or go with
one of the other two options. Nah!
Just for the record, none of the typical street rod brake setups is as good as
the stock TR6. Until you get into the really (read REALLY) expensive setups,
the top of the line is an 11" rotor with a single pot caliper, as compared to
a 10.9" rotor with dual pot calipers in the TR6. Right now, I am looking into
late model Mustang brakes, with a 13" rotor. They will probably need to be
turned down to 12" to fit the wheels.
