Well, today I took the time to explore the above referenced problem.
Examination proved nothing, so I jacked up the rear and spun both rear
wheels. The right was wobbling badly and the left wan not. I rotated
the wheels left to right and repeated the test and behold, the wobble
stayed with the right side.
So I guess the wheel is indeed OK. Thankfully, I have a spare set of
axle assemblies and have begun cleaning one up and swapping them.
Thanks for all the suggestions from the "crew".
Now if I can only locate that allusive driver-side door, I'll have the
Spit back on the road for the show.
Interesting sidebar... Kirk Yonker suggested I call a lady named Ruth
in British Columbia, so I did. Although she did not have a door, she
indicated that she was familiar with my story because somebody up there
in BC had called her about it. Thanks whoever it was!!!!
She is contacting other people who have parted out early Spits up there,
so perhaps all is not lost. I'm crossing my fingers.
Regards,
Joe
