Once while drive a Peugot 505 with alloy wheels over an overpass I hit a really
bad pothole with both passenger wheels. Immediately pulled off the exit ramp.
Both tires where trashed. The wheels were bent noticably enough not to try to
mount new tires on them. BTW, there was one car already there tat also hit the
pot hole and both passenger tire trashed. A number of other cars pulled off
before the tow truck came.
As far as I know the alloys will bend a little. The problem is they cannot be
bent back into shape. The compressed area of the bend does not expand back.
