Don't know if my filters are the same but they too had rotten foam.  I
went to the local foam shop (maybe upholstere's would have foam too),
bought a roll end of 1/4" thick foam for little money.  It is orange, and
I don't care.

Then I just cut a strip that would fit in the mesh, soaked it in oil,
squeezed out excess, and fitted into the unit.

Seems to work, they DID get dirty.  Although if I'm going to cause my
engine to grenade, someone please tell me!
